Wayfinding for Hospitals and Large Healthcare Facilities
Powered by intel, 22Miles Digital Signage and Wayfinding provides solutions that enhance hospitals and large healthcare facilities.
When Atrium Health opened its new, state-of-the-art Kenilworth Medical Plaza I and II in midtown Charlotte North Carolina, the 228.1 million dollar investment into the 400,000 square foot facility was designed to provide the highest level of care, integrating a range of top-rated specialty services across disciplines into one location.
The immense facility grants Patients access to outpatient care across the medical spectrum, housing dedicated areas for Perspective Health & Wellness, gastroenterology, infectious disease, palliative care, pulmonology, urology and more.
Atrium’s ability to serve those who would previously have made multiple appointments in different locations within one facility, also created the unique challenge of helping patients, visitors, and staff navigate the massive hospital’s grounds during often stressful and time sensitive situations.
Powered by the INTEL NUC Mini PC with 7th Generation Intel Core Processors, paired with 22Miles PublisherPro Content management system, 22Miles interactive wayfinding with mobile phone screen control functionality, was implemented across 10 kiosks located at entry points and elevators throughout the Kenilworth Medical I and II buildings.
The 3D interactive wayfinding displays help the hospital and its staff and visitors in a number of ways including:
- Assisting patients and their families reach their destinations on time for appointments, procedures, consultations and treatments
- Providing turn by turn directions to any location, physician’s office, conference room, or area of the building
- Helping staff members navigate through the hospital quickly and efficiently, reducing the time it takes to move between departments or patient rooms, leading to improved workflow, increased productivity, and better patient care
- ADA compliance allows handicapped individuals to interact with the screens without assistance from staff or others
- The ability to control the screen on their mobile device allows users to find their destinations without touching the screen, aligning more closely with hospital safety and hygienic protocols
- The amount of time staff have to spend providing directions is reduced, saving time and money for additional personnel while reducing congested help desk areas
- Administrators can review backend data analytics to determine future kiosk placement, high engagement areas, and other navigational information
